The U.S. current account deficit widened by $59.0 billion, or 52.9 percent, to $170.5 billion in the second quarter of 2020, according to statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised first quarter deficit was $111.5 billion. The second quarter deficit was 3.5 percent of current dollar gross domestic product, up from 2.1 percent in the first quarter. Full Text

U.S. International Transactions, 1st Quarter 2020 and Annual Update
The U.S. current account deficit narrowed by $0.1 billion, or 0.1 percent, to $104.2 billion in the first quarter of 2020, according to statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised fourth quarter deficit was $104.3 billion. The first quarter deficit was 1.9 percent of current dollar gross domestic product, up less than 0.1 percentage point from the fourth quarter. Real Personal Income by State and Metropolitan Area, 2018
Real state personal income grew 3.4 percent in 2018, after increasing 2.9 percent in 2017, according to estimates released today by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Real state personal income is a state's current-dollar personal income adjusted by the state's regional price parity and the national personal consumption expenditures price index. The percent change in real state personal income ranged from 6.7 percent in Wyoming to 0.9 percent in Mississippi. Across metropolitan areas, the percent change ranged from 15.6 percent in Midland, TX to -1.1 percent in Sebring-Avon Park, FL. Full Text

Gross Domestic Product by Industry, 4th Quarter and Year 2019
Retail trade, finance and insurance, and utilities were the leading contributors to the increase in U.S. economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to gross domestic product (GDP) by industry statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. An increase in private services-producing industries was partly offset by a slight decrease in goods-producing industries; the government sector increased. Overall, 17 of 22 industry groups contributed to the 2.1 percent increase in real GDP in the fourth quarter. Full Text

The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the goods and services deficit was $45.3 billion in January, down $3.3 billion from $48.6 billion in December, revised. January exports were $208.6 billion, $0.9 billion less than December exports. January imports were $253.9 billion, $4.2 billion less than December imports. Full Text

U.S. International Investment Position, 3rd quarter 2019
The U.S. net international investment position, the difference between U.S. residents' foreign financial assets and liabilities, was -$10.95 trillion at the end of the third quarter of 2019, according to statistics released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Local Area Personal Income, 2018
In 2018, personal income increased in 3,019 counties, decreased in 91, and was unchanged in 3, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Personal income increased 5.7 percent in the metropolitan portion of the United States and increased 4.8 percent in the nonmetropolitan portion. In metropolitan counties, the percent change in personal income ranged from ?3.2 percent in Lynn County, Texas to 17.5 percent in Midland County, Texas. In nonmetropolitan counties, it ranged from ?20.8 percent in Sherman County, Texas, to 64.5 percent in Issaquena County, Mississippi. Full Text
