| Description: |
The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to investigate coastal processes of mutual interest and push forward the use of coupled state-of-the-art models (tide, wave, storm surge, storm- driven morphology) for predicting the likelihood of coastal change along U.S. coastlines. The research in this project is expected to result in the development of a new modeling methodology that includes the use of the ADCIRC+SWAN model to assess return-period floodplains and resultant coastal change with consideration for future changes (e.g., changes in sea level). This will inform management decision making, including planning for the impacts of future storms and sea level rise that are expected to impact coastal communities and ecosystems. |
